Sharing a love for classical music, as well as electronic and ambient techno, duo Telefon Tel Aviv (Joshua Eustis and Charles Cooper) formed in 1999 in New Orleans.
After a four-song demo made its way to experimental electronic label Hefty records, the duo released their debut full-length, Fahrenheit Fair Enough, in September 2001. In addition to this recording, Telefon Tel Aviv has contributed to several other projects, including Slicker (also on Hefty) and remixes for Nine Inch Nails' Things Falling Apart EP. Also in 2001, the duo composed the score for New Port South, a feature film by Kyle Cooper (director of the main title sequence to Seven and founder of Imaginary Forces, a Los Angeles design firm).
