The Manchester Acid funk guru, the man behind the Lionrock sound system certainly hits the spot when he plays one of his bangin' sets. Originally from Buckinghamshire he arrived in Manchester in 1986 to study Philosophy at the University. One of the reasons he choose Manchester for the place to study was the music which has eminated from there. This includes The Smiths, New Order, The Fall and Joy Division, as Justin puts it 'A disproportionately high number of bands come from here'.

After a friend showed him the delights of house music at various clubs such as the Hacienda he became addicted. Spending his time hunting for records in Eastern Block he got to know the geezers behind the counter. This landed him a job there after he had finished his course, so that he ended up selling records to the likes of Sasha. Due to his extensive record collection he started organising parties around the city.

This culminated in meeting Greg Fenton who with Justin set up Spice, Manchesters first Balearic night. Spice had regular guests of the likes of Sasha and the Chemical Brothers (or Dust Brothers as we'll always know them!). This night goes down in legends as a important point in Manchesters and Justins history.
