DJ Deep started DJing 10 years ago. At the time, Housemusic was definitely an underground movement and the French scene was just starting to develop and Cyril, aka DJ Deep was playing by the side of Laurent Garnier at the Boy club.
After the Boy Club closed they both energized the dancefloor with their DJ style at the Palace for the Zoo parties.
At this point, Cyril stepped up his activities and began hosting a daily radio show on FG from 12pm to 2pm. At the same time, he produced his first track "Deep Contest" collaboration with Ludovic Navarre, (official identity of the mythic St.Germain), DJ Cam and Gilb'r, as well as a track of his own "Sweet summer vibe".
In 1995, the famous "Wake-up" parties started up at the Rex club featuring prestigious guests such as Lil Louis, Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson, and DJ Pierre. For most of them this signaled their first appearance in France. Laurent Garnier and DJ Deep presided over all these exciting times as the resident Dj's.
It was at this time Cyril moved from FG to Radio Nova for the Saturday night show. He felt it necessary to Follow his own vision of musicand to maintain integrity. He continued improving his own productions and remained faithful to the original sound of house.
His "Fire" ep released in ´97 became a kind of classic for Louie Vega who played it constantly. Cyril toured all of Europe, stopping off in famous clubs such as Ministry of Sound in London, The Mad in Lausanne and the Complex where he even hosted a residency for a few months. He went on to perform at the Transmusicales Festival side by side with Masters at Work.
1997 saw the kick off of the Legends parties at the Rex club. For this occasion, Cyril had invited artists such as Frankie Feliciano, Nick Jones, Joe Claussel, Kerri Chandler, Tommy Musto and other dedicated guests.
More recently, DJ Deep released "Playing for the city meets the Deep" and the "Funk force Project" on Straight up records as well as the "Earth" and Colors" Ep's on BaseNotic. He also remixed Dawn Tallman's 1998 track "Feel it" on the Nervous label.
More recently, Deep has been busy in the studio collaborating with various artists including Jovonn, Dino&Terry and Kerry Chandler. The year 2000 looks to be yet another successful year with numerous tracks already released on assorted labels. (See discography for further details).
DJ Deep continues to enrich his unique style, while maintaining a strong passion for the roots of House music. With his "deep" rhythms, he reaches out to the true fans, transmitting his pure love for music and his straightforward vision… May his vision live on.
